The Definition of Fast-Time Simulation

Fast-time simulation is a computational approach used to model and analyze airport, airspace, airside, terminal, and ground-handling operations in a virtual environment. It enables planners to evaluate scenarios, optimize processes, and make data-driven decisions.

 

Unlike real-time simulation, which runs at the same speed as actual operations and is typically used for training and live system monitoring, fast-time simulation accelerates time progression, compressing complex scenarios into a fraction of their real-world duration. This makes it ideal for long-term strategic planning and large-scale optimization, where many scenarios must be tested quickly.
